Q. Are the cornices fireproof?
     A. The cornices are made from EPS, which is not a fuel source, contains a fire retardant
and meets California safety standards, the highest in the country

Q. What is the size of a window kit and extension?
     A. The window kit makes a cornice 48" and the extensions each add 32".

Q. How do I put the cornice together?
     A. Low Temp Glue gun provides the best bond!

Q. Can the EPS be painted?
     A. Yes, with any paint that does not contain petroleum products. This does limit the pray paints that can be used. Another alternative is to coat the cornice with a joint compound  or spackle before painting. Be careful, however, not to get it to be too heavy.

Q. Can wallpaper border be used?
     A. The pre-pasted borders work wonderfully on the Avalon and the Catalina styles.

Q. Can I hang the cornice myself?
     A. We have found that one person can easily hang a cornice up to 5 feet wide. If your cornice is wider, we suggest that you have an assistant to help you by holding the other end for you.

Q. Are the cornices heavy and therefore difficult to hang?
     A. NO! a 5 foot cornice will weight about 5 pounds. They are so light, that the screws for the mounting bracket to not need to be placed into a wall stud. A simple anchor is plenty of reinforcement.

Q. Is it difficult to attach the mounting bracket to the cornice?
     A. NO! The cornice has a "groove" in the back that runs the full length of the cornice into which the mounting bracket is "pushed".  This allows you to place the brackets wherever you want them and just push the cornice onto them.

Q. What if I need to take my cornice down to clean or paint the walls?
     A. It is very easy to pull the cornice off the mounting bracket and then simply repeat the hanging procedure when you are ready to re-hang it.

Q.  How deep is the return on the cornice?
     A. The inside measurement is 5" on the standard cornice return. The mounting bracket is 5" deep.

 Q. Can the back of the cornice be decorated?
     A. Yes, the back can be covered, ordinarily in one of the fabrics from which the cornice itself is decorated. This decorator touch means that ll parts of your cornice look great, even from the outside!!

Q. How wide of a cornice can I order?
     A.  There is no limit on how wide a cornice can be. Each extension kit contains an additional bracket.

Q. Will the cornice be straight and flat when it is hung?
     A. Due to the nature of EPS and the mounting brackets, there is no dipping, swaying or "weeping" of your new cornice. It is just as strong and straight as the old fashioned wooden cornice, but with greater style and a whole lot less weight.
